Glad you bought the Greddy. It'll be carb legal, last longer, sound better and look good on your car.
If you guys want to see ebay results:
http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/271289...-catbacks.html
Heres the difference:
Exhaust Flow- Although both exhaust's may look the same on the outside, compare the inside's and see if they are exactly the same.
Exhaust Sound- Most of the ebay stuff sounds bad without a silencer. If your mentality is, oh well I'll run a silencer all the time, why the hell did you buy an exhaust?
Exhaust R&D- Was this exhaust actually put on a car for correct fitment, power gains, sound? Is it Carb legal where emissions may become an issue? Is it under the decibel rating?
Read the thread with the Supra that just finished going to court and winning due to having an exhaust under the states decibel rating
Exhaust material- They can say the exhaust is stainless Steel.... According to whose rating? Stainless Steel in China is a lower quality than in the U.S. It passes their standards but most of the time not ours. How long is the exhaust going to last? IS it going to leak?
Customer Service- Yes one of the most overlooked topics when people can't decide ebay or not. IF you have a problem, is there an actual customer service department or even better a valid U.S. contact phone number you can call for help and answers? Why the hell would you buy something from a person you cannot contact in case something goes wrong?
This topic has been beaten to death. All you ebay guys that are happy with the no name stuff you buy that is an N1 replica or Tial Style BOV keep buying it until one fails and then maybe you realize this stuff is garbage.
Everyone else go out and buy name brand stuff with a warranty and customer service department that will actually talk to you if you have a problem.

you'll continually be impressed by ebay exhaust welds and strength, even the flat flanges and gaskets.
its the fitment that kills everything, the miata's header is not just contacting my transmission but its resting into it and can barely pry over 1/8" away with a crowbar. then the egr bung is at a completely wrong angle and position to the point where you have to damage and bend factory parts to fit.
so if the shoe fits, wear it; but remember quality is completely inconsistent across the board. plan accordingly to hammer and chisel the ****er to repair the bends, at least the welds hold.

depending on the part im more of a namebrand guy, something like a test pipe thats about a foot long worked just fine for like 40 bucks, then again i only had the car for a year who knows really how long it would last. but for a cat-back i had a greddy hi power exhaust and i would rather pay more for quality and a better sounding exhaust then how a ebay one sounds like.
i didnt read the whole thread but once again nasty nas drops knowledge

How I see it, a cat back if your short on cash is fine from Ebay. A Header isn't Ebay good, but stupid **** like a cat back, or random little accessories are fine off Ebay.

cnile51...were you proving that since i went genuine BLITZ on my supra exhaust that its more likely to be sae certified and db legal?
and imo do it right the first time and avoid faults in the future
everything on my supra is genuine Blitz, KYB, obx, dunlop, cusco, whiftbitz...ect
and simply because anything not genuine in the supra community is kinda looked down upon :/ imho

Kearney, I disagree. If you want to cheap out on ****, buy altezzas and carbon fiber gascaps. Don't **** with dispensing of exhaust gases. Spend the money on a Greddy, Tanabe, Mugen, Spoon, J's, Skunk2, Borla, Flowmaster, Magnaflow, etc. Or don't spend money at all.

You can disagree all you want, you don't even work if I remember right.
So I guess its easy for you. 700 bucks is steep for the someone who only modifies slightly.
I'm not looking for huge numbers, if you just need extra pep an Ebay Exhaust is fine.
I've seen Tsudo N1s that were nicer then half the brands you named.

Why does me not having a job always come up for anything I ever say? Even when I had a job I wouldn't pay $50 for a ****ing exhaust. That's ****ing stupid. If you have kids, a wife, a house, and can't afford a $300+ exhaust, DON'T MOD YOUR ****ING CAR. It will do more harm than good, as has been said a million times in this thread from the likes of Mr Eh and Nas.
And no, Tsudo is not nicer than any of the brands I mentioned.

Yes my point is that since you have a name brand exhaust that costs more than the ebay junk you were able to prove that it met state standards when it came down to it.
The reason why a genuine Blitz exhaust costs more than an ebay exhaust is primarily because of the R&D involved in making it meet certain specifications.
In your case you were put in a position where it made a difference. If you had an ebay exhaust you pretty much wouldnt have stood a chance in the courtroom trying to fight that ticket.
Reasons why-
a) the exhaust probably has no decibal rating at all because it was never done
b) Even if it did you probably don't have a certificate to prove it because they don't provide it to you
c) You wouldn't be able to contact their customer service because well it doesn't exist or it has to be emailed in.
OBX=SSAutochrome=XS Power= Megan Racing.
All the same company. They are their own brands yes, but they knockoff companies such as HKS, Greddy, etc.
It's not hard to buy one legitimate product, copy it, mass produce it and sell it for a fraction of the price.
The hard part is doing all of the above, and making a good product without spending any $ on R&D.
It's the same as buying a lambo, having some no name company make an exact replica and mass produce it as a kit car.
Is it the same? No
Does it look the same or similar?- Yes
Does it perform the same way?- No
Does it last as long? No
Does it hold its value?- No (Not that they do anyway)
In the event of a simulated head on crash will the results be the similar?- No
If you showed up to a legitimate lambo meet or exotic cruise you'd get laughed at.
Imitated never duplicated.
At the end of the day, you can go out and buy whatever you want.

If by extra pep, you mean noise then sure. Only forced induction cars benefit from a catback to the point where you can feel it.
Catback for a 240,civic,integra,rsx,miata, etc etc is just noise/looks.
